    1. Your message is very unclear.
Where are you? At home? If you are at home, why do you need anybody else to renew your passport? Go to police station and renew it.

      1. Sorry to bother you with such a stupid question. Thought there was a way to get it done much quicker if once im home. I tried to renew it last year because a passport should be valid for another 6months after your sign off date but because it hadn’t yet expired south African home affairs wouldn’t allow me to renew it. Fortunately I was able to do another contract with my passport expiring 5months after my sign off date. If I wait for my passport to expire before I reapply then I don’t have much time to get it back before my next sign on date. I will contact someone from here to help me from now on, thank you*

  1. I had several times a situation that my passport was expiring, but C1/D visa inside was still valid until it’s expiration date. I was issued new passport, and when getting back to the ship, I would show my old passport to US customs, and everything was fine.
Now, it’s true, cruise companies ask that a passport should be valid for another 6 months after you sign off, but that’s just a formality, they don’t look too hard for that. The only reason they ask for it, is that they would love to be able to prolong your contract if they need to. They rarely do.

  2. from the Philippines here, i am looking from someone to help me out for norwegian cruise line. i finished my trainings way back 2003.. got my certificate of completion with the NCL..i just to ask if that certificate do have an expiration or can i still use it for NCL employment?

  4. I guess i should know the asnwer to this? But gd morning, I was a senior GSO working for 10 years with RCCL when a guest made a complain against me which was un call for and all went down hill, was dismissed under that grounds, is there any possibility of being rehired under such dismissal. would love to be back out there was very dedicated and loved what i do and continue doing what i do best. Thanks

    1. that’s right, you know how it works over there, once they are done with you, there’s no going back.
why didn’t you try other company?, there are many cruise lines out there …

  5. Hi I was working in cruise line USA till 2013 and got opportunity to work in Canada working there for 4 years now again interested to working in cruiselines back will they rehire me and offer same designation

    1. No reason why they shouldn’t, except you will get back as new-hire, regardless of your previous employment.

  6. Thanks how long will take for HR clearance from ccl my first mail was Feb and got reply to send scanned copies of my passport couple of weeks ago I had send it

    1. It may take over 6 months, you just never know. Once you get out of rotation on your own will, this is what you can expect.

  7. I was working in ccl did 4 contracts I got better opportunity I left the company 3 years ago I wish to rejoin and sent a email to crew assist on Feb I got replied to return to agency for update on April 1st week the agency asked me to mail all scanned copies of my passport they revert to head office
Possibly when I will get the HR clearance from headoffice for rehire

    1. For some people, it took a week, for some months, for some – never got the call. Impossible to tell. But good news, unlike many other here, you did not screw anything up, and thus your chances for rehire are very good.

  8. Hi worked in ccl four years ago and now I got a permanent resident of canada ….will carnival rehire me? My history is clean ..last contract with regular sign off

    1. They don’t like Canadian citizens onboard because they have to pay more, unless it is some specific position, like dancers, musicians, officers …
If that is the case, try to contact Canadian recruiter for Carnival. If waiter, HSKP … slim chance.

      1. I’m not citizens I’m basically from india I’m a cook I was working in canada though want to do a couple of job applied for permanent resident now im back to india completely due to extreme weather and family issue wanna go back to ship life
Pls suggest me to speed up the process for rehire purpose

        1. Your chances are slim. Cruise industry does not like to employ cooks from Canada. They like Indians, much cheaper.

  9. Halló. I have been following your post and forums. I write you because i was working for ccl for 1 years. I resigned when i was going in the half of my 2cond contract and the company paid for my tickts. According to your experience is there any chance to be re hired if i mail dem to the crewassistance or i have to forget about it? Now. If i decide opting for applying in another company is it better to skip showing my past cruise ship experience or it works to demostrate on board experience as a plus? Isnt it suospicious for dem the fact i owns a valid C1/D1visa or they never realize about it in case of starts a new hiring process?

    1. Forget about it, especially because company paid for your flight home.
I would apply for other company, and not tell them about previous work.
Visa should not be an issue. I don’t think they wonder anything, if visa is valid long enough.
