ReHire

If you have been away from the cruise line company workplace for too long (years), and wish to get back, you will need to send an email to your company hiring department, and here’s how the response may read:

Thank you for contacting Crew Assistance.
As you have been away from Carnival since 2009 it is necessary that you reapply as a new applicant.
You must contact the nearest Carnival approved recruitment agency to reapply & please remember to include your previous crew ID number in the “Former Employer” section of application.
We hope you understand that being a former employee does not guarantee reemployment. All the best, XXXX, Human Resources Coordinator

… or:

We are in receipt of your correspondence requesting re-employment with Carnival Cruise Lines.
Because you have not been employed with the company in over three years, it is necessary that you reapply as a new applicant to Carnival Cruise Lines.
Please be advised that no priority will be assigned to your application.
You should contact your local agent asap for an interview and in order to fill out an application, do not forget to include your crew ID # on your application in the “Former Employer” section.

Do note: Being re interviewed is not a guarantee of a new position.

However, if you have been away for a couple of months, just enough to get off their schedule, you might be lucky to be eligible for rehire process.
In the case of Carnival Cruise Line, follow instructions explained here: Carnival Cruise Line Rehire Process
For Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, use the same process, but with email address CrewAssist@rccl.com

Due to the high number of applicants, very very few cruise lines even publicize information about rehire process. They prefer new-hires.
In fact, I found only one – NCL America.
Here what they say on their website:

Previously worked onboard Norwegian Cruise Line and interested in returning?
Please attach your resume in an email along with a cover letter to rehire@ncl.com. Please include the position you worked, a brief statement as to why you discontinued employment with Norwegian Cruise Line and why you would like to return. Your information will be reviewed, and you will receive an emailed response regarding your rehire status.

This, however, might be a unique offer, because it’s available for U.S. Flagged ship crew only, and US citizens are a rare thing onboard any cruise line.
International crew is, unfortunately, much more … expendable.

NCL also claims to respond to: shipboardemployment@ncl.com

If you have specific information on how it works with other cruise lines, let me know or post under this text, for others to know.
If you have trouble trying to get rehired, let us know that too …
Detailed rehire stories from crew-members can be found here: Rehire stories (Use Google Translate function)
Feel free to register your free account at the forum and post your story for other crew-members to read.

  1. How if the local company in your country would not hire you even though to have already rehired letter from the cruise ship? What if the local agency did do an anomally of charging you a fee which is not allow by the law but still insist that makes the reason you can’t go back on board?how can i be helped. Trying to ask the answer from my cruise ship but they didn’t responded anymore? Isn’t it unfair?
Please answer me back on my emàil coz ive been serving the cruise ship for about 20 years… Thanks & GOD BLESS!!

    1. What is “local company in your country”?
Second, if local recruiting office charge you any fee, you can report that to the Carnival.
If charging fee is against the law in your country, you can report it to the police.

You have a letter from Carnival to rehire you? How does it look like? What does it say?

      1. My friend was working for Royal Caribbean and he get fired for IP address on his phone he for ten years can he get his job back if possible

    2. Hi Forum Sir.
I recently got discrimination infration and they sent me home. Will i get to work on same cruise line again

    1. I got dissmissed from Tui cruise last month because they found me drunk at cruise terminal…so , they sent back next day as I willingly waiting to work back with same company but it mentioned at my discipline form that it is active for 12 months from signed …is it possible for me join same company again.thanks

      1. Hi we are in the same scenario..I also got dismissed in NcL…that is also my question, I am wondering if I can go back to the same company..How about you? Did you made to go back in Tui?

  2. Hi guys!

It is necessary to notify Carnival about you want to get rehired? What if I go for an interview again as a new hire?

      1. Hi, I worked on a cruise Grand Celebration ship for 3 weeks and it was my first time working on a cruise ship. They gave me some papers to sign before I started work but I sign them but didn’t really read them because I was so excited to be there and just wanted to quickly go to work. Everything went find for a couple of weeks until I got sick with diarrhea I talked to the doctor and told her my last regular bowels were 3 days ago. Next couple of days I found out that I’m being fired. I know now that I can never return on that ship but I want to know if any other cruise line like Disney will hire me knowing I got fire for that

        1. What can I tell you, READ all the papers before you sign them. If you need more time to consider, take whatever they give you and read it in your cabin before signing. Non reporting of gastrointestinal illnesses is case for immediate dismissal from the ship, reason being, you might have infected dozens of people you came in contract with.

          1. I didnt had the sickeness for 3 days. what i was trying to say is that i didnt use the bathroom until that day i came to the docter office. i reported it as soon as i saw i was sick. this is where she misunderstood me. is there anyway where i can plea my case about this. i would love to return.

      2. Sir I  got job offer latter from  carnival cruise line i already select in carnival  the position is galley steward my date of join ..3 fab . And port .Sydney australia… But there is some mistake from the comapny side for the c1d visa with my comapny document when I go for the visa appointment the US immigration reject my visa bcz carnival send me the job offer latter Australia port and. The comapny fixed my visa appoiment with us immigration after that they reject my visa so please I need your help and what I need to do that please give me the right suggestion please sir help me I want work with carnival family & my brother also working carnival cruise line please sir this is my humble request please

  3. One more thing: if I recieve the same answer like this (As you have been away from Carnival since 20xx it is necessary that you reapply as a new applicant) can a former assistant waiter go for a bar waiter interview?

  4. It depends on country, local agency … which tend to make their own rules. If they don’t like you .. they will ignore you and focus on fresh, new candidates without baggage.
    That’s just how it is.

  5. hello good afternoon I came emergency and I can not return, if I had known how difficult returned after an emergency, I had stayed on board. just tell me that I can do always been a good worker.

    1. Return/Rehire is like dancing on a mine field. If you are lucky enough, you can make it, but a bad move can blow you up. And there is too many.
      What I experienced so far:
      – Former college of mine (restaurant dept) from Romania, she went home with emergency, she bought her ticket back and forth, got rehired. She also has colleges with rehired status.
      – A good friend of mine (housekeeping dept) from Philippines, he went home with emergency, he bought his ticket back and forth, got rehired even he extended his staying at home with one more month (3 months in total).
      – Former college of mine (restaurant dept) from maybe Philippines, she got rehired after 2 years.

Maybe it is something going on with the airline tickets, or the reason of leaving, or the time away from the company… You see, too much things…

It depends on which country you are from and the local agency. As far as I see Europeans have a slightly better chance of rehiring because there are never enough new hires from there. But we are just speculating, guessing because nobody saw the rehiring policy in written, maybe it is not exist. Who knows.

As a side note, I’m also going for a rehire status. Company approved. But I have to do the interview process over again.

      1. One of the biggest problem when asking to get rehired to Carnival, here is East Europe, is a local recruiting/partner agency. The agency bleeds new recruits to dry, collecting “a fee”, (4th decade in progress), and I suspect it’s favorite recruits are naive and desperate newcomers, not veterans who had already paid them and know what is going on.
One report on my forum indicates a crewmember have paid up to €550 for their “services”, often hidden within the higher than normal price of the airfare ticket, and one even reports to have heard from the agent himself; “without €250 you will not get a job”.

        1. Dear Admin,

My Story for Getting Rehired at Carnival:
I worked for them (2001-2008) as an asst. Mgr., got a kind of nervous breakdown one day and completely broken & stressed I walked to the head of department to kindly allow me to resign. I left….
I started to work at Celebrity (2009-this year) and suddenly got a job offer through a European agency (I’m also European) to work for one of the concession companies of Carnival. The concession company already gave me a contract but it is dependent on getting rehired by Carnival with a new crew ID. My agent said no worries because basically I will work for the concession company even though Carnival gives me the ID number and examines if I left them “with good terms”. I never had any warnings, evaluations were all great except that long contract in which I had a nervious stress breakdown and I decided to request for resignation.
Please, Admin kindly share your opinion about my chances for getting rehired by Carnival to work for its concession company onboard.
          Thanks a lot.

          1. Dear Crew Forum Admin,
Thanking you for keeping up my positivity before with your previous reply, may I humbly ask again as follows.
Do you think it is still a reasonable, hopeful period to have been still waiting for Carnival’s approval on stepping onboard after working for them in F&B till 2008 and now after 10yrs “being away” I would return BUT AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THEIR CONCESSION COMPANY not for them directly?
Do you think they just wait to give me “green light” because the next rotation for my position is going to commence only at the end of August so they might contact me back only next month right before I shall sign on to replace the concession staff? Do not you think that at least they should let me know that I’m allowed to wirk onboard of their ships, I just need to wait for the concession company to send me my ship & date assignment?
From Carnival point of view I’m not their staff in their rotation pattern, even so, is it a reasonable time period to wait for their approval? Do you think they have a lot of paperwork and they keep my case the last because the concession is going to rotate in August so my case is not that urgent?

Thank you again for considering above.

          2. I think everything is fine from your side, now you just have to wait for their move.

  6. Good day Forum Admin team!
Have a question , would like to know your opinion if I may. I accomplished my last Carnival contract last summer ( 2014) and had to extend vacay to stay ashore longer then planed. Well, long story short – I am trying to get back now, but not quite sure how much time it takes to have definite respond. I e-mailed Human Resource Coordinator, a month later he responded asking about my prof. activity for absent period. Basically that`s it for now. Few weeks passed, still no news. I do not want bother much but just curious – at this point , how much time might it take before I will be responded? What is the procedure in the case? Should I be expecting response for the decision HO makes or do they get back on touch with CM with approval only ?
    Thank you!!!

    1. Your wait time depends a lot on how desperate the company is for crew on your position.
They are very efficient, and most probably the spot needs to open in their fleet-wide rotation plan.
When it does open, they might call you, but they might take candidates on stand-by first. There are probably candidates from all over the world waiting in line.
Some reports say people wait for up to a year to get a definite answer, and some people get invitation to get back immediately. There are too many factors involved.
Few weeks is nothing to worry about. If it goes to months, then you might want to start worrying.
In meantime, you might want to use Google translator to read some posts of the crew in the same position you are.

  7. Thank you for rapid response, it is very helpful and informative. I assume I should not be expecting to know all the details, as far as I understood decline would be announced right away. Hopefully I am in the waiting list in the system. I was just surfing though Internet for some posts from CM as you suggested. I was covering GSA position for about 2 years and most of the reviews I came across with so far, said waiting period was minimal – couple weeks in average. I trust it is a bit too early to be concerned, will wait and hope for good news from the office in the nearest future 🙂 Thank you!

  8. Hello Admin, please, Can you tell me, do you have a local recruiting or a partner agency in Tunisia? Thank u

  9. hello i would like to know if i can get rehired for NCL after getting terminated because alcohol policy ,its been a long time, this happend 6 years ago i just like to know
    thank you.

  10. Good day Forum Admin !
I am Rico P. Duavis, I have been working in the Carnival Cruise Lines since July 18, 1999 then I retired last August 23, 2014 as a Team Waiter ( Restaurant Services Department Crew ID Number 244318.
I have worked for 15 years in the company and it helped me and my family a lot. I have learned a lot and gained countless experiences from the people surrounding me, as well as the environment in which I am in.
I have a 21 year old younger brother named Charlie Shane P. Duavis which is going to graduate this coming 25th of April 2015 with the BS Hotel and Restaurant Management degree course program. He already had his On the Job Training at Crown Regency Institute of Tourism and Hospitality for 500 hours. He also have accomplished having his Bar and Beverage NCII, Food and Beverage NCII, Housekeeping NCII and Front Office NCII and a lot more of seminars attended. I am asking a big favor if you could please help me let him be trained in the Bar College and work in the Bar department if he is qualified. He is willing to learn form the company and work with the company. I am willing to spend the transportation fee for him to the training area if needed.

I am looking forward for a favorable response.
Thank you and more power! God bless.

  11. Hi, I would like to know if I’m still eligible to work with cruise line company since I’m already 55 years old and still very much interested to be re hired if possible. I’m an officer onboard a cruise ship which ceased operations in 1998. Unfortunately the company that I’m working for has stop its operations and we are force to go back to our mainland country. Since then I keep on applying on some local agencies for cruise ship jobs but hiring was very tough and was not easy to be re hired, so I just decided to work locally in my country. For the reason that our economy is getting worst, again I have set my mind and interest to re apply for a cruise ship job whenever possible. I would rather choose NCL to be my objective employer if I will be given a chance to be newly applicant.
Kindly share your advice as to my objective is concern.

    1. Joey, you are talking about rehire, but your company does not exist? That’s not rehire.
Second, unfortunately, I don’t think that 55 years of age appeals to any cruise line hiring needs.
Keep applying online, but your chances are slim to none.
Finally, are you really in position to chose the cruise line you want to work for? Unlikely.
      Good Luck

  12. Hi all,
I’ve been sent home with a serious injury from Carnival Miracle at April. They choosed an insurance company and a doctor for me in my home town. Since then the doctor said I’m fit for duty. I sent all my medical papers to medical team but they don’t reply. Also crewassistance doesn’t reply to me. It’s been a month I’m trying to reach medical team on emails and phone numbers and still nobody answers.
Do you have any idea what could I do?
    Thank you for answering.

  13. Hi all,

Can you please give me some information about CCL scheduling team?
Is there any email or phone address to reach them?

    Thank you

  14. Hallo admin My name sendian i was stop work one year ago,i stop because my wife just giving birht and she couldn’t taking care baby byherself.and now she asking me to get back to CCL ,what step I supposed to do to get new LOE ,and i got emai like this CM request has been denied if CM takes it upon his own discretion and refuses to join , we will accept it as his resignation. 15. hello forum adm , i worked for NCL my last contract was2010 i worked as a bar waiter got terminated coz’ alcohol policy , i found and agancy that i tried i naver say i work for NCL before after few weeks i got an enterview with NCL HRD hiring after the enterview i got news and i was confirmed that i passed the enterview si the agency send me all documents to like visa , medical, etc to get, its been 2 weeks that i sent them all so im waiting for news and joining papers . do you think that could a chance after all movements i made so far . because they have been asking to get my papers done asap.
    thanks.

    1. Are you not afraid that somebody would recognize you when you get back to the ship? It’s not a huge company.
Anyway, it’s a gamble, and if I was a betting man, I would bet against you. Your chances to get back after fired are very very slim.

    2. Did you got that job at NCL bro? I also was fired for alcohol and interested how long they keep recordings. Thank you. Alex

  16. hello again . more than a question ,, i’ve worked for princess cruises like 2 years ago i never go back after my second contract because i had a low performance so they never rehire me again ,never fired just low performance anyway i never like their management , do you think ? i have the chance to get hired for another carnival corp brand for example i’m trying to get to Carnival cruises or Seabourn cruises , do you think they will look to my feedback ,what would happend in that case?

    Thank you.

  17. Hi. Me and my husband have been trying to get back to working on RCCL since April last year! We’ve written to the rehire email address, we’ve applied as new employees with the hiring partners but still nothing. We resigned but we gave them our notice like a month before we did. They also said we were eligible to be rehired in the future. My question is: why haven’t we heard anything yet? What do you think?

  18. Hi Good evening,

My situation is funny, i worked with Rccl for 9 1/2 yrs when i was terminated because of a guest complaint that went out of controll. i did not hit anyone i wasnt rude to anyone but i guess they way i answered her she thought i was rude. is there any possible way or rehire if my situation is carefully thought through. my position i held was S Gso. i continue to enjoy being on the front line an i have learn’t how to answer carefully every question being asked by guests. it would be a pleasure for me to get back as this was a way of helping my parents.

  19. Some companies put a code on your last evaluation, like NTR, which stands for “not to rehire”, do you have any code on your last eval? Because that’s the first thing they look at. Another thing, if you did not make any friends with higher management in such a long time, it makes me wonder if they like you or not … If you do have someone to speak for you over there, that’s a big thing, he/she can push things along ..

  20. i am chetan kholkar, worked for celebritiy cruises, as a asst galley operation manager, my id 870955, i have first time onboard after 05 month they terminate to me because i got three warning, which is related to internal audit usph audit. i have forward the request to rehire but they reply to me not eligible to rehire, so can i apply for new position.

    1. I am afraid that there’s nothing for you there. Once you get 3 written warnings, that’s it. Case closed. Why are you so locked on to Celebrity? There are many other cruise lines …

  21. Hello I was working as cabin steward for royal Caribbean cruise line but I got fired in January 2015. I send rehire request to rccl but I’m not eligible. Since June 2015 I’m applying with carnival cruise line, p&o cruises, Ncl,Aida and Costa but they asking why I left the company because I was working as cabin steward. They send email to rccl company to verify why I left or I got fired. They came to know I got fired from rccl company and I can’t apply anymore. I want to work but its very difficult for me to apply and get job.My question is why rccl sharing information to other companies about employees? Also how long my records going to be filed with rccl? Is there any chance I can apply any other cruise line?

    1. RCCL shares information with other companies only when they ask for it. You should probably find company that does not perform background checks.

  22. Hello,
    Thanks for your honest reply,
I know many cruise ship companies are there but problem is that only rccl and celebrity having a opening position of assistant Galley operation manager / chief steward, So can i apply same position, & they will consider my application? Please reply….

  23. Hi

I have worked for the msc I got fired cause a cabin inspection was done as weed was found in my cabin as I am applying for other ship I use them as reference as it was my first contract I am getting regrets from other lines does this mean I must forget abt shiplife for good??

      1. And what about the c1d visa on the passport? if is been done on the 2014..got.fired.in 2015..re apply and get hired in 2017 how you justify the visa on the passport without mention about previous experience.on the cruise?
        Thanks

        1. Why would you want to justify having visa from before? To whom? No one will ask you why you have it. But if you got it in 2014, is it not expired yet?
And are you talking about the same company? Fired, re-applied and got the job again? How can that be?

  24. hello admin ,

        1. What a mess …
You should hire interpreter, and have him handle correspondence with the Carnival. Your English is pretty poor and adds to confusion. I can not help cause I am not in any way affiliated with the company.

          1. hello admin . could i asked some question? i worked ccl 2014 with hotel stewardess position. but i cancel second contract due to climate change i fell down with an illness and i have take food and beverage training with the purpose of changing department. it took me one year include my vacation two months.now i would like to join ccl again. could you please answer my question it is possible or not. thanks for answering .

  27. Hello,
My last contract was on RCCL NV, but on March 10 2016 with permission of bar management, HR and HD I had to go home urgently because my father died. They told me to contact scheduler when I’m ready for reassignment (no longer than 12 months). I’ve done 6 contracts with RCCL as Bartender/Senior Bartender, without any negative record or bad evaluation. I have been send mails to RoseAnn and CrewAss but they redirect me to RehireRequestRccl and they don’t respond for 2 weeks already.. That is very slow and irresponsible! My question is, do they have any deadline to respond, and did you guys had any similar experiences ?

    1. Two weeks is nothing. After two MONTHS, you may get slightly nervous, but only after 6 months you have reason to worry.
That’s how cruise industry works when it comes to cases like yours. Carnival, Royal, Princess … they all make sure that all crew going for emergency realize how replaceable and expendable they are.

  28. Hello admin
I was recently hired by NCL 3 weeks later unfortunetely i slipped and fell down injuring my knee after xray by ship doctor ther was a fructure iin my knee they repatriated me back home promosing me immideate medical care up to now its my third week without a word a word from tgwm after numerous emailing them does that mean they wont pay my medical i sort my self out?

      1. I am terminated from carnival cruise line….can I apply for different department with costa through my agency….is there any info share between these two…advice please….thanks

  29. Hello i was resign from celebrity cruise last year, because of familly issue, i sent email to rehire departement to request come back, but until now there is no response can you help me?

  30. Sir i was was a person who was repatriated for medical in 2015 from carnival .. i worked there as galley steward…i got my fitness after 2 months of my repatriation..and they didn’t took me back…So can i apply for any other carnival corporation branded companies like Aida, P&O etc???

      1. Hi I resigned with carnival last june 2017, but then I realized I needed to return onboard and work again with Carnival since life here in the Philipines became very difficult because of inflation. I alreasy send an email with carnival..they said they gonna review my request to get back onboard for a month. But then said they are still doing the review..its already almost 2mos now. Do you think I got a chance to comeback.

        1. I think you have a chance, but they review cases like yours maybe once in six months, or even once in a year.
It is your fault, you should have predicted inflation in Philippines …

  31. Hi there. I think you might help me to solve a big doubt I’m having. I worked for a photo concessionaire for 5 contracts but by the fifith I’ve got terminated from the concessionaire, the termination letter basically said I was terminated from insatisfatory performance. The problem was a bad relationship I had with my boyfriend of that time and the manager as well. My question is, if I can get hired by a different company with a different position, if so, should I tell them my story, and the previous contracts I had?or just apply as a new hire, since its going to be all new, new company, new position etc? I certainly tried my best, but at that time, I had no more power to go on, either I was going to quit, or the way it ended. Thank you for your attention. Best regards!

    1. I would not mention it to the recruiter of a new company. It may get in a way.
And when filling up application for C1/D visa, declare that you have visited US before, as I think there might be a question in a application form about that. US consulate does not care about previous situation, just don’t lie to them.

  32. Sir I signed off from the ship for medical signoff, after I got a fit certificate from my doctor I sent it to the case manager, later my company is telling they cannot rehire me, so what can be done

    1. John, try to elaborate this: “my company is telling they cannot rehire me”.
      What exactly did they say?

        1. First you said “my company is telling they cannot rehire me”.
Now you say “They said that the company don’t want..”
I know who is company, but who is “they“?

          1. They is the ship management hr, crew doctor, staff captain, sat together with the company and decided that they dont want to give me a contract

          2. That is it then. The reason does not matter. There is nothing you can do, but to look for other companies.

  33. Hello Sir/ Madam ,

I came back in india in emergency because of my mother’s health, that time i was completed 7months and HR giving me permission, So now my question is If i would like to join again then how can i apply again? Can you please help out me of this things

    Thanks & Regards,
    Kinjal parmar

    1. You said HR gave you permission. Do you have that permission in a form of a document? Or it was just talk.

  34. Hi,
I was terminated from my position recently by RCI for “Unsatisfactory Performance”. I will definitely work harder in the future, but I’m scared whether I will be hired by other cruise lines due to the termination. Is it better to disclose this up front when applying through recruiters and to other cruise lines? Do you know if cruise lines generally exchange crew information (regarding termination)? Please advice.
    Thank you.

    1. It is not a good idea to disclose your previous employment with RCI.
As soon as you mention it, they will ask you for your performance evaluation. And that will be the end.
Find another company, start fresh. Cruise industry does not share information about crew members.
      Go Carnival, Disney, ..

  35. hi im discharged from royal caribbean last december 2017 because i reported we using internet access from the guest do you think it is posibble to come back or rehire by rci again?tnx for the answer

  36. Hello

I was terminated from RCI for a unknown reason for which i have appealed to the company.
They asked me for a month to look into the matter. After a month i emailed them back they said that they are still looking into it.

I just want to know , How long the appeal process takes to complete? Approx!
and How does the appeal process works in the head office?

    1. How can you get terminated for an unknown reason?
No matter what, you get to sit with the staff captain, and you get a reason.
How can you appeal if you don’t know what you are appealing for?
Besides, appealing process goes through the window once you get disembarked. Too late. It does not work from a land.

      1. i just want to know if a crew member is terminated from the ship. and if you appeal for the termination to the head office how long does it takes for investigation?
        2. How does the head office works on the appeal process ? is it confidential .

        1. And I just want to know:
          1. How can you get terminated for an unknown reason?
          2. How can you appeal if you don’t know what you are appealing for?

  37. hello admin .i was fired on msc due to lateness at work .ive got 3 warning..do you think that the company will hired me again.if not..can you help me how to apply for disney or any company online.is there any website??thank for the consideration

    1. hi, no, company will never hire you again.
Why are you still insisting on cruise ships? If you have a problem with lateness, it will not go away by itself.
Cruise ships are extremely difficult to work on, and if your body can not handle it, there is nothing you can do.

  38. Due to financial reason i was force to retire and get my retirement pay so i can pay my debt .Do you think i will be rehire by the same company?

  39. Thank you for your email and thank you for your interest in re-employment with Carnival Cruise Line. We are honored that you wish to return on board. Unfortunately, we are not able to complete a review of your file as currently there are no positions available.

We wish you the best with your future endeavors.
    Regards,

I got this email when i asked to rehire.
Is that mean am i able to keep enquiring to re hire

  40. hello, admin i work for NCL for almost 3years and i been terminated 2 days before my signoff this year 2018 due to alcohol company policy.. i just want to know if i still have a chance to apply and be hired by other cruiseline company?

  41. Hello admin
Just quick question….recently got fired from rccl due alcohol policy…(refused alco-test, end up on master hearing…TOC)
Im starting to get calls from recruiters these days and after They ask why i Am not with rccl anymore i tell them the truth…And even They Are surprised About honesty They offer me job…
Anyhow one of them gave me Like attitude saying that IT is going to Be problem to get new job bla bla…now i Am wondering should i tell them truth?
If i dont, can They find out?
Aparently rccl is allowed to say reason?
Sorry About capitals But this iPhone is really stupid 🙂

    1. If you are trying to get hired for company not affiliated with RCCL, don’t say what happened, you are going to be fine, RCCL can not find out.

  42. Ok but first question they ask after reviewing my CV is why I’m not with RCCL any more 🙂
(I worked in technical department Btw….)
And I have to give them reason but not sure what to say…do you have advice maybe?
Is it true that RCCL is not alowed to say reason for TOC?
Can they even say that was TOC?

  43. HELLO I WAS FIRED FROM PRINCESS CRUISES NOW I WANT TO COME BACK TO ANOTHER CRUISE LINE..
IS THERE ANY WAY OTHER CRUISE LINES KNOW I WAS FIRED FROM PRINCESS?
    PLEASE NEED ANSWER
    THANK YOU

  44. Greetings
i was employed with Carnival for 8 years. When i signed off i was called into the HD office 10 minutes before walking off to say i will not be offered another contract. This was due to me finding one of the fellow crew members phone that i knew in crew bar after they left to go to thier cabin. I had a witness with me who knew i took the phone to give the next day. The next day was embark and i stared at 6am, was so hectic i never saw that person, i still had the phone which was still switched on. When i wanted to return it a report was already filled. I gave my statement and handed over the phone thinking that was it. So upon signing off i got news i wont be returning. I was able to appeal but it fell through. All i got was a sorry and thank you for your service and a refrence letter confirming my emplyment. My department said they will give me a personel reference anytime beacuse they knew the situation was unfair. I am apllyimg for other cruise lines but i dont know what to say, be honest or just say i left for personel reasons. any advice?

    1. Hi,
there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. The Captain is the law at sea, and he can do whatever he wants, nobody can challenge it.
I suggest you try another company, not associated with Carnival.

      1. Regarding applying for other cruis lines, should i be honest or just say i left for certain reasons. RCL offered me a contract , however they did a back round check via a outsourced company and was thus declined. Now im in a predicament of what to say with other companies?

        1. This is first time I hear that Royal does a background check. Did you get declining letter in writing? Which (outsourced) company performed it?

          1. The company they used was HireRight. All was going well, went to medicals .Then i got an email from thier HR department telling me to stop the process due to the Hire Right survey. I have requested copies from Hire RIght . I want to appoach other companies but am cautios as what to say. Carnival has made life very hard in a very unfair wau

          2. I think that mentioning what happened will automatically disqualify you, nobody will believe you over the captain. If I were you, I would lie.

  45. I thought that to be the case. I doubt all companies will do a an extensive back round check. I know there are people out there who have done prorper wrong things and still end up on a ship else where

  46. question… I was medically disembark in ending of February 2018,my local doctor says am fit for duty, however the company did not cleared me fit for duty until ending of July 2018, the agency that was communicating with me on the company behalf, sent me an email stated. your company as confirmed that we should closed your file, and they should contact you soon regarding your return to work…I haven’t heard from my company since I received that email. do you think I have a chance of hearing from them soon or getting back my job?

    1. It is hard to say.
If they feel you might have trouble performing your job, they will not call you, regardless of “fit for duty” status.
You should probably start looking at other cruise line companies.

      1. Worked for steiner in 2015 being sacked cos not reporting of chron disease. Can i apply for harding brothers (shops..)?
        Thanks

  47. Hy , I was working with Royal in 2016 in in restaurant department for only 3 month because i resigned and i was paying my ticket to go home .My manager told me if i want to come back i can. Now after 2 years i have another job like casino dealer and i want to ask you if i have a chance to be eligible to return in company on casino department ! I already send on rehire rccl my case ! In present i am working with Aida cruises ! Thank You and i am waiting your advise regarding my problem

  48. Do cruise ship’s hire crew who have been dismissed from other companies
Do they need to be told that u have been dismissed during interview.
Do they do a background check with the previous companies
    Pls advise

  49. Hello Admin,

I worked for Celebrity for 5 years as a waiter, until september 10th 2017, when i resigned due to family problems .. I have to say that I informed the HR about my resignation, and finished my contract in a good way. I even have an above average appraisal from my last contract. In august , this year, I contacted the company through RehireRequest address and they told me that because of my length of almost an year, I will be considered as a new hire, but I can not join the company now, yet, cause the rotations are made every 6 months or so …. I don’t know what to do …
I contacted my agency, in my country, and they told me as well that my status is “Rehire”, so I can not apply again through the agency …

What do you think I should do? Still wait, or try with a different company?

    Thank you very much

    Have a nice day

  50. Im 27 years in the celebrity cruises and I worked in the galley. I filed my retirement last Aug.2018 and I got my pay..I used my pay because I want to have a small business..At this time I want to come back to celebrity with the same position..I want to ask youif I have a big chance to rehire me after 6 months..thank you and give me advice…

  51. Hey there
I was dismissed with 3 warnings for poor timekeeping.
I really want to get back with the company. Should I even try?
    Any advice would be great

    1. Don’t try, you will be wasting time. Maybe other cruise line companies? If you can get up on time of course.

  52. Hi i used to work in Royal Caribbean as an Asst Waiter. I got a final warning from the company because i reported for G.I one hour late I got scared and I resigned according to the company policy giving them 2 months notice period, but i would like to join back the company but i am scared if they would rehire me because i already have 2 warnings. Its almost been a week I resigned and i feel very depressed because i have nothing to do now. I loved my job on Royal Caribbean.
Please help me if i could join back the company even if i have 2 Warnings. My appraisals and performance are good and satisfactory!!
    Will they REHIRE ME?

  53. Hello,
I just be fired from a cruise line and I want to know if there is a database where the companies put the fired people? And also if you apply for another company how much they can research the background in the other companies?

  54. Hi,
I worked for Celebrity Cruises, from 24th of July till 19th of October when they disembarked me due to some medical problems and I found out by email that I was placed on Administrative Leave. This is the email I got:

    Dear Corina,
This is to confirm in writing that you are being placed on Administrative Leave commencing as of October 19, 2018. We have received information indicating a potential failure to disclose preexisting medical conditions or medical information in your Pre-employment & Reemployment Medical Exams. Given the serious nature of the matter, you will be placed on Administrative Leave during the investigation into this events. This is not a disciplinary action or a dismissal, but is intended to allow the Company time to examine the allegations thoroughly and to determine appropriate action. During the investigation, you will be provided with more specific details of the allegations and given an opportunity to respond to them. We request that you are available for interviews while you are on leave. If you do not make yourself available we will proceed with the investigation and make a determination based based on the information available to us.

Now to tell you exactly what I passed through…A few years ago I had a spontaneous pneumothorax, no surgery was needed because it healed on its own, nothing serious as the doctor told me. When I did my medical exams before joining the ship, the doctor didn’t asked me if I had any pulmonary conditions in the past, and not only this, I found out (to late unfortunately), that the doctor was supposed to give me some papers with questions that I had to answer to. I never received those papers from the doctor. Since I was a new hire and I never passed through this kind of medical exams before, I didn’t knew which are the steps so what I did, was only to follow what the doctor told me. I signed all the papers she told me to, without reading what I was signing, since they were only medical exams, it was nothing concerning to me. Before ending the medical exams she asked me a few questions like : if I have any allergies, if I think I might be pregnant or when was the last time I had my period( nothing important anyways). While on board, after picking up something heavy, the problem that I had years ago was happening again so I went at the medical and told them, of course they didn’t believe I was having that problem, so after 3 days of pain they decided to send me ashore to a doctor. After my condition was confirmed, the doctor on board asked me why is this missing from my Pre-employment medical exams, and I explained to him, that the doctor from my country didn’t asked me if I had any pulmonary conditions, and that’s when I found out about the questions I was supposed to answer, and I told him I never answered to any question as the doctor never gave any papers with questions. The day they disembarked me, they didn’t even told me which was the reason, they only emailed me hours later that I was being placed on Administrative Leave and the reason for that. The thing is that before they disembarked me, I’ve seen 4 doctors and they all stated I was fit for duty and I can finish my contract. I don’t really understand their reason for putting me on Admin Leave, since I explained it was not my fault about what happened with my medical exams, and I’ve emailed them so many times telling them to investigate that doctor from my country because what she is did was illegal, and I never got any answers from them until today, not even to tell me how its the investigation going. In the end, I decide to call the ITF so they are running an investigation now. It seems the Company emailed the ITF telling them this: “This crew member failed to disclose a serious medical condition which we could not allow her to remain on board for. Unfortunately, they disembarked her and she had to stay in Japan for two weeks, approximately, before she was fit to travel. This cm will not be allowed to work on board.” In the end, they think I was hiding this condition, which is totally not true, if I wanted to hide it, then I wasn’t gonna go at the medical on board and report it and even telling them I had this problem in the past. Anyway…sorry for the HUGE letter.. I’m trying to make you understand my situation before asking you an important question. I want to apply for a job at Carnival, will I be able to?? If they gonna ask me why I left from Celebrity, should I tell them the truth? Will they do a background check and see the real reason for which I was fired?

    1. I think you should apply for Carnival and not tell them that you were fired, but left for some other reason.

  55. I worked with RCCL for 12 years and than taken retirement in the month of December 2018.

Due to financial issue I have sent mail on January 2019 to rejoin and mail sent to REHIRE TEAM.

    But they declined my request.

can you please check and confirm whether any possibility they will rehire me.

  56. Good night. I just resigned my contract on ccl, the ask me to pay for my ticket but i was not able so they ended up providing me the fly. It was around almost 1 year and a half since i left that company but i tried 6 months ago to apply with starboard for sales associate, everything was running fine until they told me they were going to check and screen my background in ccl after final interview, then another agency stopped my process after getting to know i just resign my contract. I am trying to apply for a cruise line again. Nezt week u will hace a pre interview with a local agency to go onboard carnival. Will it works if i skip mentioning i was in carnival before considering me as a new hire? What about other companies do you recommend me to skip of show my carnival reference?

  57. Hi admin i have been worked with p&o for 7 months .but discharged on achohol policy at the moment im planning to apply with carnival US with a new passport. 59. Hello admin.
I was terminated from Carnival a month ago for allegedly falsification of documents resulting in an act of theft. I was still asking for the review of the case from the main office because i believe i was terminated without any due process. I want to ask if i can still get a job from other company even if they find out the reason why i was terminated from another company?
Hoping that you can help me find the answer with this question. I am really eager to find another job right now to support my family but i was really worried if i can get another job because of the reason of my termination.

  60. Hi , i had worked in CCL 5 years ago, i quit the job and they didint give me the apprasal or evaluation when i got off the ship , now i want to apply again to other company but they ask me about the apprasal and i dont have it , do you know any other way to work in another cruise ship company easy and quick please.Oh i am from Peru here the partners like Bonavista and CRC ask about the apprasal even though i apply as a new one ,but they knew that i worked onboard before i dont know why . I need help !!

    1. EVERYONE gets appraisal when leaving ship. If you did not get one, it is to late to do anything about it now.

  61. Greetings

Could you tell me if I was fired from Royal Caribbean because alcohol abuse. Can I be rehired. I really want continue to work for this company.

  62. Hello sir i was on-board msc cruises and there was other crew member he punched me on my face and we both were fired from the company as per company policy, the other crew member was tested positive for alcohol and i was told that i would be able to come back as all the witnesses were supporting me , i sent a appeal request to the msc head office they told Me they will review my case , do you think they will rehire me, do i have any chance to get back to msc

    1. Your chances of rehire are slim to none. Especially now, when industry is shutting down, and no hiring is taking place.

      1. Hi, I was on RC for 3 months and didn’t pass the probation period. This was 11 years ago.
I would like to apply for another position now. Can they find out of what happened before if I don’t mention it?

        1. A good number of crew that were there is still there, someone may remember you, and then you would get fired for not saying you worked for them before.
When they fire you from cruise line, it is for all times. But let me ask you this, why RC again? So many cruise lines to choose from, and you want to get back to the one that fired you. All this aside, no cruise line in the world is hiring now because of corona virus, cruise industry is in ruins, it will take many more months before they start thinking about hiring again. If they survive this at all.

  63. I worked for p&0 cruise for 10 year I resigned due to family problem in 2016 but I want to join again hr have send me the letter to fill all my details is there any chance that I can get rehire
    Thank you

    1. There sure is a chance for rehire, but you know that the industry is in shambles right now, they are still offloading crew off their ships …

  64. I worked with celebrity cruises 2013- 2014 and they fired me with 3 written warning, is it possible to apply rehire now.

      1. I worked with skysea golden era & celebrity summit last 2 contract in 2018-2019 after that I finish my contract in 6 Oct 2019 & i went to vacation . Unfortunately my indos is deactivated from DG shipping of government and my ticket , assignment as cancelled . After 3months my indos is activated I am still waiting for assignment. I need to rehire as soon as possible please accept my letter .

  65. This is the response to me from the Rehire Team is there any chance of rejoining. My sign off was very bad while on board they do hard time on me and they terminate my contract without any proper investigation and never get a chance to talk with the captain that time because very late at night already. Everything happened so sudden and I eve not receive any warnings. I am newly hired that time and got a good position. So when I am at my hometown I decided to make an appeal I emailed what really happened and with the attached appreciation from the guest I received on board.
    See below reply email to me;

I know for now cruise line industry are in crisis. Hopefully there will be a good feedback on my request and thanking you in advance for your reply.

Thank you for your interest in rejoining the Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. (RCL) team!

  66. Hello my first contract on ncl I got 2 warning which was active on my second contract I got my 3 warning and I was fired…can I got rehired again

  67. Hi, i worked for Steiner(OneSpaWorld) i got ship and it was RCCL, i worked for almost two months and i got fired cause i committed crime, i have stolen item from company and sold it to rccl worker. I want to work on cruise ships again and i don’t know which company i can apply cause of my background, can apply for Rccl, or i shoud go with NCL or other companies, I’m scared that they are gonna find out about my background, should i hide that from other companies and act like I’m totally new to ships?

    1. If police was not involved, and your visa not revoked, there is a chance, but you would probably have to lie in your new visa application.

      1. Police was not involved and my visa was not revoked, so should i apply for rccl or should i go with other company, and I have double citizenship should i go with other passport or the same one? And you said i should lie for next visa application, I can say that i didn’t like job and company so I’m changing that for better one? Thank you very much for answering.

        1. I would go with the same passport and other company.
I did not say you should lie. If you want to get the job, it is inevitable.
The cruise industry is in shambles. Good luck.

  68. Hello i wonder if possible to apply for oceania cruises due to the fact that i worked for ncl 10 year ago fired because alcohol, makes wonder both belong to apollo group ,so if so virgin voyages as well.
    thank you

  69. Hey there. My partner got fired from RCL 2 days before his initial sign off date for vacation due to violation of alcohol company policy. Is there a chance for him to get rehired at RCL or any other cruise line again?

    1. As I always say, RCL and other major cruise line companies have justice system of their own. They all have some kind of appeal process onboard, but is in place just because maritime law demands it. Usually, there is no time to appeal, just like in case of your partner. By the time one learns how to appeal, he finds himself ashore and the ship has gone. Once escorted off ship, it is impossible to get back and appeal the decision.
But there is one good news. He can apply for a job at any other cruise line company that is not affiliated with the one he got fired from.
