Dickinson explains how Carnival addresses the issue of keeping staff onboard for more than just a few years.
“A number of years ago, we set up the industry’s first retirement plan in such a way that everybody who works for us has a retirement plan.”
Employees are partially vested after 10 years and fully vested after 35 years.
He adds: “So the longer you stay, the more valuable it becomes.
People may start with the intention of being with us for only three or four years, but the retirement plan has allowed them to consider this a full-time career.”
