CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES
(Miami, Florida)
Year-Round
From its meager beginning in 1972 with one aging ship, Carnival Cruise Lines has today become the self-proclaimed "Most Popular Cruise Line in the World." Today, Carnival operates or has on order 14 of the world's large passenger cruise ships. Most of the company's vessels sail in the Caribbean and Mexico. Carnival is also home to the world's first entirely smoke free cruise ship, the M/S Paradise. Carnival's "Fun Ships" specialize in moderately priced cruises that are marketed to the young, active set.
SPECIFICS: Carnival's ships employ a crew of almost 15,000 men and women, making it one of the largest employers in the cruise industry. Most officers (except pursers) are Italian, while the crew is of mixed nationality. Most staff positions are filled with American, Canadian, and British citizens. Unlike many companies, Carnival has been known to give Americans and Canadians jobs in crew positions such as dining room
waiter, bar waiter, etc. Beauty salon, spa and fitness staff are all recruited through
