A GSA’s duty is to exceed our guest’s expectations, which results in a varied and interesting role, encompassing many duties and responsibilities:
Answering queries about the ship and ports of call, in person and over the telephone
Listening and documenting guests’ concerns, resolving them and following up with relevant departments and the guest accordingly, and sending an appropriate gesture of concern
Handling lost and found questions and documenting lost and found items accordingly
Assisting the guest in the event of lost luggage, documenting and following up
Reporting and following up on maintenance issues
Responding to guests’ inquiries regarding on-board credits and Bon Voyage
Documenting damaged luggage
Documenting items of clothing soiled or damaged and following up on laundering
Participation at Boat Drill
Ensuring that the Guest Services Office is kept clean and tidy
Ensuring that each GSA’s work station is stocked with stationery supplies
Reading the Capers and Incident Report in order to be informed before starting your shift
Assisting your colleagues as the need arises
Performing cash handling transactions and closing out Sail and Sign accounts
Balancing and turning in Sail and Sign deposits
Accepting and checking cash deposits for cash sales (crew bar, bingo etc)
Assisting the Shore Excursions Manager in selling and providing information about tours
Recommending places to visit in ports of call
Ensuring that port information is kept up to date
Selling airport transportation vouchers
Assisting with LEX/BAGS on certain vessels
Preparing invitations for Repeat Guest Party
Participation at Repeat Guest Party
Packing up the voyage file at the end of each cruise
Preparing port papers and material transfers for all ports of call
Checking in guests who arrive late to the ship
Preparing early flights and immigration notices
Assisting in the smooth-running of immigration
Issuing luggage tags, deck plans, customs forms, Capers, tour information, shopping information and purchase protection forms at the guests’ request
Preparing literature in foreign languages
