As you are probably aware as been discussed previously, our Groups business has declined and as a result we are having less & less groups sailing onboard. Due to this, it is prudent for us to look at our operation and reduce the number of Group Coordinators we have in the fleet. The feedback from the fleet HD’s/GSM’s and even Group Coordinators has been that some do not have enough to do and hence are helping out at Guest Services – which is fantastic so this is to a certain degree formalizing what is currently already being done onboard.
On those vessels, where we no longer will have a person with title ‘Groups Coordinator’, the Group Coordinator duties will be absorbed within Guest Services with the duties being assigned to either a GSA or GSS. They would assume the side duty of Groups for a pre-determined time & it would be part of their development and need to be completed before promotion to next level – similar to other side duties and what was in place previously.
The decision on which vessels and when to implement has been discussed at length as also wishing to coincide with the introduction of the S&S kiosks while also being as least disruptive as possible to individuals and their schedules. With this in mind, I would like to be as forthright and discuss with each Groups Coordinator in the fleet to discuss their futures, plans & aspirations are.
Naturally, I would like to offer the Group Coordinators positions as either Guest Service Associates or Hotel Admin Coordinators and retain their knowledge & expertise. T
