Title: If I can get a passport am I ok?
Post by: Shannon406 on 29/November/2012
You say if you have a criminal record, "bye bye"
I got in trouble almost 20 years ago and I have had to pass criminal background checks for other jobs and have been fine.
Is this specific to getting into other countries or the cruise line policy? If I can get a passport am I ok?

If that was so long ago, you should be fine.
What job you're thinking of applying for?

Looking for bartending or serving....?? I have over 10 years experience in that industry so I figure thats all I'm able to get for now.  When reading over some of the jobs I feel like I would be GREAT at some of the staff positions that your job is to make sure travelers are having a great time ect.  but I don't have MC experience.  I'm hoping if I get on and work hard I could move into something a little funner??? maybe??

Sounds reasonable.
Comparing to so many other nationalities, there are not too many Americans aboard cruise ships.
And the one working there, often go for "cruise staff" positions. To native Americans, it is easier to get that kind of a job because of English language & crew-pax communication.
