NCL America has immediate openings for the following shipboard position on our brand new ships sailing in the Hawaiian waters year round and offering the best of Freestyle Cruising:

SAFETY & SECURITY OFFICER

The Security Officer on board NCL ships is in charge of all daily security operations on board and while in port, including training of the crew and training of all security department guards. This position is critical to the safe and secure operation of the entire vessel. Incumbent must be fully capable of maintaining a flexible attitude with all security related issues and have the ability to effectively apply security standards in a method that has little to no effect on the passengers aboard the vessel while ensuring all aspects of the security program are strictly adhered to by his/her staff and the remainder of the crew.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of the Security Officer include, but are not limited to:

SECURITY OFFICER acts as the main investigator concerning any accident/incident that may occur amongst the Guests and Crew and requires detailed investigation.

SECURITY OFFICER shall submit required reports upon completion of the investigation (i.e., incident/accident).

SECURITY OFFICER will develop, establish, and maintain proprietary control of investigative information or other pertinent or significant data of Guest and Crew for a minimum of two years.

The SECURITY OFFICER shall be familiar with and active in the Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS), including his responsibility in the Safety Organization according to the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.

The SECURITY OFFICER will maintain timely entries in the vessels security logbook and will be responsible to insure the orderly flow and control of all security related reports.

SECURITY OFFICER will contra sign the Night Security Guard Log Book and investigate all incidents logged when required.

SECURITY OFFICER is responsible for training and scheduling of Security Guards assigned to the vessel.

The SECURITY OFFICER will compile and distribute gangway list of authorized crew allowed off vessel in port in concert with appropriate Custom and Immigration clearance requirements worldwide.

The duties and responsibilities of the SECURITY OFFICER include, but are not limited to:

Undertaking regular security inspections of the ship to ensure that appropriate security measures are maintained; Maintaining and supervising, the implementation of the Ship Security Plan, and monitoring, the continuing relevance and effectiveness of the Plan, including the undertaking of internal audits and any amendments to the Plan; Coordinating, the security aspects of the handling of cargo and ship's stores with other shipboard personnel and with the relevant Port Facility Security Officers;
Proposing modifications to the Ship Security Plan;
Reporting to the Company Security Officer any deficiencies and non-conformities identified during internal audits, periodic reviews, security inspections and verifications of compliance, and implementing any corrective actions; Enhancing security awareness and vigilance on board;
Ensuring that adequate training has been provided to shipboard personnel, as appropriate;
Reporting all security incidents and completing SEMS forms;
Coordinating implementation of the Ship Security Plan with the Company Security Officer and the relevant Port Facility Security Officer;
Ensuring that any security equipment is properly operated, tested, calibrated, and maintained.

In addition, the SECURITY OFFICER should have adequate knowledge of, and receive training in, some or all of the following ship specific areas, as appropriate:

1. In the layout of the ship.
2. The Ship Security Plan and related procedures (including scenario-based training on how to respond).
3. Crowd management and control techniques.
4. Operation of security equipment and systems.
5. Testing, calibration, and whilst at sea, maintenance of security equipment and systems.

SECURITY OFFICER is to enforce where applicable all company rules and regulations particularly concerning:
Crew Curfew Crew Dress Code ID of crew to be worn at all times, etc. Assist with indoctrination and training of new crewmembers joining the ship, as needed.

The SECURITY OFFICER , together with the ship's Firefighters, Safety Manager, and the First Officer Safety, etc., will show each crew member his/her station reference regarding emergency plan and station bill.
New crewmember is to be addressed properly. Together with the Staff Captain, the SECURITY OFFICER is to supervise in the yearly “Ship Security ON Survey.”

SECURITY OFFICER is to conduct random searches and major organized and deliberate searches with the consent and knowledge of the Captain and the Staff Captain.

SECURITY OFFICER will supervise/direct the search and secure procedure for luggage of all crew members debarking the vessel.

SECURITY OFFICER is also responsible for supervision of Visitor Authorization in accordance with SEMS procedure. The Staff Captain is responsible for all onboard Key Systems (Master Keys and Safes). This includes the safes that have been given to passengers. Daily control and issuance is delegated to the SECURITY OFFICER .

SECURITY OFFICER shall participate actively in the weekly Safety and Security meeting and in the monthly Crew Safety and Environmental committee meeting.

SECURITY OFFICER will ensure that ships offices and restricted areas are secured when not in use.

SECURITY OFFICER will become familiar with U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Foreign government agencies' rules and regulations as they pertain to vessel in port.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Holds Basic Safety Course Certificate and appropriate licenses and certificates as required by regulations.
Required to a have minimum of 4–6 years of police or military training. Preferably a combination of both.
Poses intermediate to advanced level training in all facets of security to include the completion of a recognized security officer course.

Additional skills include:

Introduction to Improvised Explosive Devices IED's.
Improvised Explosive Device Threat.
Detection of Improvised Explosive Devices.
Use of Screening Equipment aSecurity Officer ciated with IED's minimum of 3 hours.
Basic X-ray screening course training (40 hours minimal).
Non – lethal retention training.
Investigation training. Please be advised, this is the equivalent of a Police Officer or Military Special Forces Officer. Security Guard experience would NOT be sufficient to apply for this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

*Able to lift at least 25 lbs.
*Climb on step stool or ladder in order to complete elements of job or facilitate maintenance issues.
*Bend, lean and stoop without hindrance.
*Fine motor skills.
*Use stairs often.
*Work within different temperature changes—indoors to outdoors.
*Able to pass basic safety course.
*All in here mentioned is a minimal description of duties. Other work requirements may be necessary and assigned as business or maritime law dictates.

Conditions for Employment:

International Candidates:
Any employment offer for NCL is contingent on the ability of the applicant, candidate and/or new hire to successfully complete a police background check and a medical examination including drug screening.
Candidates must also have a valid passport and possess the ability to obtain a C-1/D working visa prior to being assigned to a ship.

U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holders:
Any employment offer for NCL America is contingent on the ability of the applicant, candidate and/or new hire to successfully apply for and obtain a United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document prior to ship assignment start date. The application process with the Coast Guard will require disclosure of previous employment, drug testing and medical, criminal and court records to include DUI's, sealed records, and suspended
licenses. Successful candidates will receive detailed information regarding the requirements for Merchant Mariner Licensing.

Cruise ship employees live and work onboard for the duration of their contract.
They work approximately 10 hours per day, 7 days per week. Shipboard assignments may last 4 to 10 months and can be followed by 1 to 2 months of vacation time. Assignment durations vary based on position.

Sounds really interesting. So many people know about the NCL's service and the cargoes uniqueness. Still I am doing study and interested to join NCL, so is another requirement goes on next six month?
