Salary: $1100 US Dollars - Tax Free + baby sitting money which ranges from $1 to $600 per cruise.
It's all in fun...Camp Carnival includes a wide range of activities designed for children in three different age groups - Toddlers, Juniors, and Intermediates. All children are supervised by staff who have experience and/or education in child-care. You'll see your child's excitement grow as soon as they meet their counselor and get assigned to their group. And when it's time to eat kids get their very own menus, featuring all their favorites like hot dogs, chicken nuggets, pizza, macaroni & cheese, hamburgers and more.
YOUTH PROGRAMMING AGE GROUPS
Carnival’s policy is to group children together according to their age. The age is determined according to the child’s birth date.
CAMP CARNIVAL is divided into three different age groups and the Camp Carnival Staff work on a rotation basis with every age group.
The groups are as follows:
• 2 – 5 years old
• 6 – 8 years old
• 9 – 11 years old
UNDER 2 YEAR OLDS: We do not offer an activity program for children under the age of 2. We accept Under 2 year olds during the following times (depending on ship’s itinerary)
• Family Play Time (12-2pm /1pm-3pm ) on Sea days
• Port Mornings (arrival until 12pm) or Port Afternoons (late arrival until 5pm) – depends on the port of call
• Babysitting 10pm-3am
Some additional duties as Camp Carnival Staff:
• Nightly Cleaning
• Babysitting
• Waterslide
• Changing Diapers
• Serve/feed lunch and or dinner
• Embarkation/Debarkation
CIRCLE “C” - Young teens 12 to 14 years
Circle “C” is for the younger teens to meet new friends and have fun, memorable vacations.
One dedicated Circle “C” Director will run this program. Circle “C” is a fun-filled program that provides entertainment for them onboard. Activities run throughout the day according the ships itinerary. The young teens can come and go to activities as they please. A registration form must be filled out by the parent/legal guardians. Each cruise a variety of activities is offered. Some activities are:
• Teen Shore Excursions
• Teen Video Games & Consoles
• Hip Hop Dance Class
• Scavenger Hunts
• Trivia
• Sporting Events
• Arts & Crafts
• Music and Dancing
CLUB O2 – Teens 15 to 17 years
One dedicated Club O2 Director will run this program. Club O2 is for the teens to relax but also have high energy fun. A variety of activities are offered for the teens:
• Themed Parties
• Teen Shore Excursions
• Video Games & Consoles
• Trivia
• Sporting Events
• Karaoke
On each ship we also offer a dance class so that the teens can learn new moves for the parties offered essentially every night.
Club O2 is all about offering teens a place to meet others, relax or dance and do what makes them happy.
YOUTH PROGRAMMING CAPERS
The Youth Director puts together a list of activities for Camp Carnival age groups. The Circle “C” Director prepares for the 12-14 year olds and the Club O2 Director for the 15-17 year olds. For Camp Carnival the Capers are handed out at the Orientation Meeting on the first night of the cruise. Circle “C” and Club O2 will receive their Capers at their respective meeting places. The Capers list all of the activities that will be taking place for the entire voyage. Inside the Capers it states the time the activity will be going on, what activity will be offered and where the activity will take place. There are many times throughout the voyage that we utilize passenger lounges around the ship.
PLAYROOMS
The playrooms are bright and lively places.
Apart from entertaining our Junior Cruisers,
we must make every effort to maintain the appearance of the playrooms. After all, we always want it to look its best as it is a reflection of the program and the Camp Carnival Staff onboard.
The playroom is open every day from early in the morning until 10pm free of charge. We offer many activities throughout each day. The playroom is where the youngest of our cruisers play – it is equipped with toys, board games, arts & crafts and lots of fun stuff for the entire cruise. All of these activities will be presented in the Camp Carnival Caper which lists the times, activities and locations for each age group.
GAME ROOM
Each ship has a different set up that may include game room. This is the room that the 6-8 year olds and 9-11 year olds. The room is stocked with video consoles and games, a wide variety of board games, Plasma’s for movie nights, Candy Art, Sand Art and Spin Art Machines. There are plenty of things to keep the kids occupied.
IRCLE “C” LOUNGE
This lounge is a great place for 12-14 year olds to hang out, play video consoles and dance the night away. Some ships are still waiting to be refurbished and may not have a lounge in place but the project will be completed soon. The Circle “C” program offers a full schedule of activities, which include everything from sports such as basketball, volleyball, ping pong and various water games to late-night movies and “swimming under the stars” pool parties.
CLUB O2 LOUNGE
Each Club O2 lounge is unique and only for the 15-17 year olds on board. The lounge is built for teens and they can come in and hang out, chill, and just kick back in ultra-comfort. They can joke, laugh or just reminisce about all the fun they’ve had. Club O2 daytime activities are designed to be a little more relaxed. While at nighttime, the energy is cranked up. Club O2 has something for everyone.
CAMP CARNIVAL BABYSITTING & AFTER HOURS
After 10pm, we offer pre-arranged babysitting which takes place in the playroom and/or Game Room in the form of a Pajama/Slumber Party.
Babysitting is available from 10pm – 3am. There is a fee for Babysitting/After Hours which is $6.00 per hour for the first child and $4.00 for each additional child in the same family. The total is charged to the guest’s Sail & Sign Accounts upon the pick up of their children.
All Camp Carnival Staff will do evening babysitting and port day babysitting (free play) on a rotation basis.
For evening babysitting and port day mornings until noon, we accept children of all ages including infants.
While the younger children watch movies & play quiet games in the playroom, the 9-11 year olds age group may play video consoles and games, do arts & crafts, or use any other facilities in the Fun Club. This service is called After Hours and it runs from 10pm to 12am. We also hold several Late Night Parties: 2-11 year olds Night of Fun, 6-8 year olds Mini Late Night Party, 9-11 year olds Late Night Party from 10pm-3:30am one night of the cruise, all are highlights for the kids!
At the end of each cruise, the money earned from the babysitting are divided equally among the Camp Carnival Staff.
The paymaster will pay the babysitting money out after each voyage and the tips will be distributed by the Camp Carnival Staff onboard.
The amount of babysitting will vary depending on the time of year and kid counts.
WATERSLIDE/WATER WORKS DUTY
On all Carnival’s Ships there is a waterslide. We are responsible for supervising the waterslide at certain hours throughout the day.
All Youth Programming Staff supervise the waterslide on a rotation basis. We ensure safety while preventing accidents.
EMBARKATION
Embarkation Day is the day that guests arrive and join the ship. One Youth Programming Staff will greet the children and teens with information about the Youth Programs. In Camp Carnival one of the Camp Carnival Staff will supervise the playroom as it is open to guests and travel agents for viewing. The lounges in both Circle “C” and Club O2 will remain open for viewing for all guests to explore. While on duty at the gangway or in the playroom, expect to answer numerous questions regarding our program. Flyers will be handed out informing families of our Orientation Meeting for the 2-11 year olds, Meet & Greet for the 12-14 year olds and the Rollout for 15-17 year olds. The families will attend the respective meetings where they can register their children for the entire cruise.
