Job: Crew Purser

1.   OBJECTIVE

   Ensure smooth Clearance for all crew in accordance with advised Port requirements and OCI policies;
   Ensure accurate financial reporting of crew accounting, maintenance of crew systems and payroll compliance in accordance with OCI policies;
   Facilitate information flow to Department Heads, Shipboard Management and OCI Corporate;
   Liaise closely with Crew Resources Manager on board to ensure good relations are maintained and information is shared between all on board;


2.   RESPONSIBILITIES:

   Guest Experience

   Demonstrates a genuine concern for guests’ wellbeing at all times;
   Pro-active approach to problem solving;
   Ensuring staff training, development and knowledge throughout concession outlets is maintained at optimum levels to facilitate the guests’ experience.

   Operational and Administrative

   Crew Clearance and processing port documents required for crew;
   Crew sign on/off;
   Seaman’s book applications for OCI and concessions;
   Medical certificates collection and recording;
   Safety Certificates collection and recording;
   Signature Service certification recording;
   Name badges for crew and berthing cards for the cabin doors;
   Ship’s Articles Maintenance;
   Arrange Crew Transfers and report to Chief Purser for billing;
   Crew Cabin assignments;
   Crew Cabin Maintenance issues reporting (AVO’s);
   Crew mail distribution and landing manifests for crew landings;
   F&F applications – processing and forwarding to OCI Corporate for Approval;
   Responsible for maintaining Crew Victualling;
   Responsible for updating monthly POB (Passengers on Board) for Crew Documents;
   Entering and Updating all crew information, visas etc in Fidelio;
   Responsible for Crew Lost Luggage follow up;
   Responsible for sending Crew Operational Position Lists and Weekly Manifests to OCI Corporate;
   Attend Hotel Meetings;
   Cover front desk for Reception Meetings;
   Performs all other duties as requested by supervisor or as listed in SOP Manual – Front Office;


Finance

   Responsible for maintaining crew accounts and payments;
   Processing all Oceania Cruises Payroll, Expenses, Cash Advances and Bank Wires;
   Crew Welfare funds;
   Crew Foreign currency exchange services;
   Crew telephone card inventory and cash balancing;
   End of cruise cash balancing of crew accounts;


Training and Development 

   Facilitates the training of new crew pursers;
   Coaches and supports Second Purser in daily operation and where requested will facilitate additional training of Second Pursers for progression;
   Communicates standards of performance to employees;
   Creates and maintains a positive work environment;
   Models excellent leadership behavior;
   Fosters teamwork within all departments onboard;
   Promotes, participates in and actively suggests enhancements of the Signature Service program.
   Incorporates Signature Service standards of behavior in daily work in the areas of:
o   Creating memories and positive experiences for guests
o   Presenting yourself professionally
o   Anticipating guest needs
o   Completing guests requests and needs
o   Handling guest challenges
o   Improving the guest experience

   Will participate in crew and passenger safety drills according to instructions from ship’s command;

3.   PREFERRED SKILLS:

Systems

   MS Office Suite
   Fidelio Cruise including (but not limited to) modules:

   Cruise Management, Payroll, Data Import, US Customs APIS, Quick Check In.

   Micros Fidelio Point of Sale

   NVS – Visual Reservation System


Education and Experience

   Hospitality Background preferred;
   Travel industry and previous shipboard experience required;
   Experience in front office, revenue operations and crew operations preferred;
