Position Title: Assistant Stage Manager
Position Code: PASTMG
Reports to: Stage Manager / Cruise Director
Functional Manager: Sound & Light Fleet Supervisor and Entertainment Operation Manager
Stripes: 1 Stripes (Not wearing)
Contract Length: 4/6 months

Position Summary:
The Assistant Stage Manager forms part of the Entertainment Department. His/her primary task is to provide technical support (such as, but not limited to; sound, light, projections) during show
productions, musical moments and all entertainment activities up to company standards, following all artistic directions. Also, s/he will participate and co-operate in other specific Entertainment
Department’s activities to give an overall satisfaction to our passengers.
The Assistant Stage Manager reports to the Stage Manager and Cruise Director and will assist and co-operate with them in all issues that might arise concerning the Entertainment Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. In accordance with the company’s philosophy, each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This applies to physical and verbal interactions with guests
or fellow shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and crew areas.
2. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Company’s standards and safety policies.
3. Assists in the operation of lighting and operates sound and/or other equipment (such as, but not limited to; videos, projections and effects) for all rehearsals, shows, live events and
representations.
4. The Assistant Stage Manager provides all technical support to all Entertainment Department activities, programs, secondary lounges, restaurants and other venues on-board.
5. Assists in the maintenance of all lighting, audio and video equipment, cleaning procedure of the equipment every two weeks.
6. Assists in maintaining inventory of spare equipment units, parts and consumable supplies (such as, but not limited to; lamps, speakers, amplifiers, gels, smoke fluid)
7. Follows cue sheets, plots and diagrams of actual technical and artistic operation of the production shows.
8. Follows the PRE-show procedure script prepared by the Stage Manager.
9. Follows scripts for the follow spot light units of each show.
10. Be in place and ready on standby mode to start 10 minutes before the scheduled time of any musical moment and/or activity. All sound checks must be done prior to these 10 minutes.
The technical team should report any delays of musical moments and/or activities to the Cruise Director.
11. Assure personnel’s safety and a safe working environment for staff onstage and front of house.
12. Takes part in all required inspections of the areas on-board. Works with the entertainment staff to see that these areas are prepared for inspection and that any items which fail are corrected
immediately.
13. Works with the Entertainment and technical teams, following Cruise Director’s instructions to see that all audio levels for shows, activities and musical moments are appropriate for the
guest’s demography of each voyage.
14. The Technical team ensures that all show props, sets and sound and light equipment are properly maintained at all times. Must ensure that the quality of all entertainment technical
equipment is kept up to the company’s standards.
15. Maintains all inventories for the entertainment technical areas and does updates when necessary.
16. Ensures that all non-essential equipment (such as, but not limited to; stage lighting fixtures and projectors) are powered off when not in use.
17. Covers the Stage Manager and/or DJ when and if needed.
18. Assists to maintain the backstage and changing rooms. All areas are to be up to company’s safety standards.
19. Makes certain that all equipment in the entertainment spaces on-board is secured, attached and/or properly stored to assure minimal damage or equipment loss in cases of rough seas or
high degrees of list. To the contrary, this should be reported immediately to the Stage Manager.
20. Attends and participates in meetings, training activities, courses, inspections and all other work-related activities as required and informed.
21. Has a smart presence and follows all uniform and dress code regulations as per company standards.
22. Participates in crew and passenger drills according. Individual trainings as per the Monthly Safety Training Program.
23. Does Port-Manning when scheduled and required.
24. For duration of the contract, the Company will provide to the Employee lodging at no expense. This will be a shared cabin. S/He has the responsibility to maintain the cabin tidy and up to
company standards at all time.
25. For duration of the contract, the Company will provide to the Employee meals at no expense. Employee will be provided food service in the staff dining room.
Respect is to be shown in the staff dining room at all times to other staff members eating there (no shouting is allowed).
The use of guest dining room is subject to authorization from the Hotel Director, table availability
and discretion of Restaurant manager. It is understood that above mentioned privilege is approved for guest satisfaction only and a service charge will apply after filling in the table
request form with Cruise Director. All requests for restaurant use must first go through the
Cruise Director.
26. Maintains continual interaction with the guests.
27. Ensures all equipment needed for the activity and/or show is available, ready and in working order.
28. Keeps workplace clean and free of debris of any kind.
29. Be knowledgeable and informed about all the entertainment activities to be able to promote them and guide passengers accordingly.
30. Assists and attends Captain’s Cocktail party to provide technical support if instructed by the Stage Manager.
31. Reports immediately in writing to the Stage Manager and the Cruise Director any incident which occurs during the cruise.
32. Participates, together with the rest of the entertainment department, in decoration of lounges or open decks for special programs (such as, but not limited to, Christmas time, Easter,
Halloween, 14th July (only CDF)).
33. Complies with the adherence to all shipboard regulations and procedures within the Entertainment Department.
34. Promote all entertainment activities, Thematic Nights, night activities (tropical party, disco, etc.) daily activities (dance classes, social games, art craft, etc.)
35. All entertainment staff will sign the “Release right image form”. All photos published on social media networks regarding shows and/or activities done onboard, must first be authorized by
Pullmantur.
36. Follows privilege package as stipulated by the Company.
37. Follows all policies, rules and regulations informed by the company. To the contrary, disciplinary action might be taken.
38. Inspects and requests maintenance of workstations, work areas, equipment etc., to ensure efficient service and performance and also compliance to standards and procedures.
39. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy environment by enforcing organizational standards, procedures, and regulations. Effectively monitors, oversees and makes improvements to the
workplace’s safety within the area and throughout the ship. Ensures the working environment
is safe and secure and all working practices comply with ship’s safety regulations.
40. Reports directly to and supports the Stage Manager as the immediate supervisors. Reports to the Cruise Director as Head of Department and supports him/her in all aspects.
41. Maintains and facilitates effective interdepartmental communications. Maintains a professional relationship with all members of the cast, crew and production staff.
42. Be a team player and cooperative. Foments teamwork.
43. Any additional duties delegated by Stage Manager and Cruise Director.

Training Requirements:
1. Completion of Technical High School (sound and/or light engineer) or Vocational Education
equivalency preferred.
2. Required to speak, read and write in English and Spanish in an Advanced level in order to
understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms.

Previous Experience and Skills
1. Must have minimum two years of experience in both high tech lighting and audio systems;
Technical school education preferred; Experience setting up microphones, speakers and playback equipment required.
2. Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse team environment to meet overall established time-frames for the guest services operation.
3. Ability to communicate diplomatically with Managers, shipboard and shore side employees to resolve problems and negotiate amicable resolutions to challenging issues.
4. Ability to adjust to, and to work in a multinational environment.
5. Attention to details.
6. To be a team player.
7. Strong communication skills are needed.
8. Initiative.
9. Ability to communicate respectfully with Department Heads, coworkers and other ship board employees.
10. Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
11. Ability to understand and comply with company standards.

13. During live performance, the assistant stage manager may have to deal with both technical and human crises. A good assistant stage manager must learn to think under pressure while
maintaining semblance of order and timeliness.
14. Human sensitivity skills to interact appropriately with crew in a considerate, professional and positive manner by showing concern and listening actively.
15. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external guests, some of whom will require high levels of discretion, patience, tact and diplomacy.
16. High level of tolerance and resistance to frustration.
17. Ability to dialogue and communicate non-verbally.
18. knowledgeable of entertainment techniques and resources.
19. Must be active and dynamic.
20. Ability to improvise and fast reaction to unforeseen circumstances.
21. Strong enthusiasm.
22. Permanent attitude of observation.
