Boarding the brand new Regal Princess felt rather familiar, possibly because I was lucky enough to have attended the christening of sister ship Royal Princess by the Duchess of Cambridge last summer.
At the celebrity-spangled christening party we’d rubbed shoulders with the likes of Brucie and Biggins in elevators and on dancefloors, but this time we were welcomed by a new star in the making – Blackpool’s very own deputy cruise director, Dan Appleby. Never heard of him?
Well, chances are you will soon – along with hotel general manager Dirk Brand and other crew members, if you’ve been tuning in to the ITV documentary The Cruise Ship.
