Bar Steward interview for Princess

cruise ship job interviewTattoos and job interview don’t mix

Hi! I’ll share here my experience with training and final Bar Steward interview for Princess Cruises.

It took me two or three days to get over myself a little bit because I didn’t get the job. It was just because of my tattoos, but I guess I’m calm now and I’d like to share my experience 🙂
Basically, I went to Belgrade via Kouzon agency for training and interview for the Princess.
The training was great thing and recommend for everyone!
Three days is probably too long, but since there was about a hundred of us, it was necessary and a lot of time to complete all the tests that the Princess company requires (Psycho test, Marlins test, Princess test, the main test, and at the end test depending on the position you are applying for, like Bar test for example).

Tests and the whole training was led by Mr. Atanas, which I think is “a great guy”, full of information and fun to be around, so time passes quickly enough.
The training is very important, because you get a lot of information about the company, ways of getting things done, and about some regulations Princess company will certainly ask at the final interview.
Once you have those three days behind you, and you meet all the criteria, ie. passing all tests with more than 70%, comes the last day and the final interview by the company recruiters.

The final interview was not so hard, I think the average duration was approximately 15 minutes.
Judging by myself and other colleagues the most important thing is fluent English, smile, and again English 🙂 and of course, try to be relaxed as much as possible …
The recruiters from the company were not at all scary, indeed three very friendly person lead the interview.
The questions were mostly about us, about the job for which you are applying, the company and some questions from training (the most important thing is that you have learned all the rules and definitions related to the safety on board).

I think a good majority of candidates got job!
Unfortunately, I was not one of them. It seems that it’s not good to be honest 🙁
I was aware of the issue about the ship and tattoos, but I think I had been treated unfairly by my agent.

Majority of people simply don’t talk about tattoos and get the job, but I wanted to be honest and mentioned it to my agent. He wrote it in my application without telling me …
But whatever …, I don’t want to speak ill of anyone, we are all humans 🙂
Next time I’ll be a bit smarter!

Although I spent a lot of money for travel and accommodation and I got the job, I’m glad that I went through it. I learned some things in trainings that until now I didn’t know, and I met a lot of nice and good people 🙂

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!
