I will describe here a real situation, so that you readers can understand better;
I worked for two years for Carnival, until I got sick, i.e. I got chronic inflammation of the ankle joint. I went home on medical grounds, healed, and wanted to get back to the ship, but then received the response from Carnival’s office – they wished me all the best but they could not give me a contract renewal.
A friend of mine who is a hotel manager sent email to office to ask for my status and got back to me saying that they would not take me back because it is a chronic illness.
Ok, I understand, they fear it would hurt again, swell, which means treatment pay, spa …
Then I applied apply for a gift shop job via another agency, went to no less than the Carnival’s ship, there were no health problems, I completed full three contracts in shop department, stayed home after that, graduated … now the devil would not leave me alone, I want back on the boat, and since I am from Serbia, I can not consider NCL or Princess, or Carnival because of the situation described above.
NCL is looking for German speaking Purser, means the option is Princess, but as I said I have already sent email to the recruiting agencies where I stated to have previous work experience at fu***ng Carnival.
Now, because the Princess and Carnival are the same company, I am afraid that Princess could check with the Carnival and Carnival could say “Don’t rehire that sick girl”
I wrote to Carnival, without much expectation, to give me a letter of recommendation, and they actually sent me one, as if I was their employee and I left the company because of further ambition, that I was a good worker …
… and a day after that they sent me another email to say that I should ignore previous email and not use it.
Does that mean that I am blacklisted?! who knows …
I still hope that Princess won’t contact Carnival, … and wonder whether Princess checks each candidate who has worked previously for Carnival? These are all the questions that bother me …
I left on emergency leave…found a better job for which i needed reference/recomandation letter from carnival. I asked at carnival…i called every day and i was sending mails too. They finaly answered that they will not give me any since i iwn them money for plane ticket. That saying not true since i was onboard there more than 6 months. Is carnival legaly permited to blackmail me to pay money for references after 4 years working for them? I dont think they are. Shame on you carnival. You are dissaster company with dirtiest guest rooms…and overall disaster. I will defo contact cnn to provide some juicy info… 🙂
Unfortunately, Carnival is not blackmailing you. It is their good will to write/type letter of recommendation, and if they figure you own them money, that’s it then.
It is more like you are blackmailing them with cnn. Your emergency leave have probably left them unconvinced.
I would like to ask where can I send an email requesting for my EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE EVALUATION to forward it to me…I just finished my contract on June 15, 2018.
Why didn’t you get it before disembarkation?
