From my experience and all that I’ve seen, people notice a good worker, and thus he gets a promotion.
I went to the ship as a “Mess Steward,” and the following contract came to a managerial position.
While I was working in the Staff Mess-in, I did the best I could, and I believed that someone will notice my hard work, and desire to work. And so it was, I got a photographer’s job, where photo-manager helped me a lot, because like I said, he had seen me excelling on the job that I despised, but still believed that something would change.
When I started as a photographer, believe it or not, I worked 19-20h per day (printer + photographer + training for a videographer).

At one time, I have not seen sunlight for a period 24 days, that is, I have not had time to visit open deck, let alone to get off somewhere in the harbor, but there, I was quiet, did my job and I have not waited long for the award, I was promoted to manager in my first contract as a photographer.

This surely isn’t the case with everyone, because honestly, one can encounter a variety of supervisors and managers in charge.

I know managers, even in the current company, that are simply afraid to promote anyone, fearing it might turn out to be a bad decision.

Anyway, I advise everyone to be self-sacrificing and hardworking, because someone is always watching.

Greetings from Greenland.
