What company and the position have you applied for, and why?

I applied for the position with the Norwegian Cruise Line, RESTAURANT STEWARD.
At that moment I thought I could not apply for anything else because I had very little work experience.
NCL is one of the few companies that offers the opportunity of employment for 18 years old, otherwise you have to have 21 because these are American standards.
That was my only choice but not the only reason why I applied for that position.
I went through three years of practice as a waiter and at that moment I thought that was the best solution.

How long did the interview and when did you find out that you’ve been selected?
Interviews took place in the hotel and close to the Arena Center, lasted maybe 10 minutes, it killed me to wait for invitation and start of an interview.

I was walking and pacing around the door, and all those veterans looked at me and probably thought “What’s with that guy …”.
When I entered the room I was greeted by a woman that you can see in the documentary UNDERCOVER BOSS of the Discovery Channel, if I’m not mistaken. She was properly dressed and extremely professional.
We were told before getting in, not to sit down until offered to sit down and not to extend a hand for a handshake unless given a hand. A little scary, isn’t it?

At the end of an interview, she even shared jokes and made me feel great.
When you leave the room your legs start shaking and I had a feeling like the stone of 10 tons fell off my heart. GREAT FEELING!

I found out about 2 weeks after the interview that I’ve passed the interview, in fact, I came to the agency by accident because my friend did not sort her application documents all right, and I went to the agency to see what’s up with that.
We went inside and recruiting partner for NCL rolled his eyes as soon as he saw us because we were really annoying, sending e-mails every 3 days to see if the results are in or not.

He asked me “Are you still planning to work on a ship? I said “Of course”, and his next sentence was: Well, you’re joining the ship on 07.12.2014.
It’s been a long time since I felt such a joy.
