What others say about cruise ship jobs forum:

@lasmar:
While waiting to start my first contract, I’ve decided to describe my way from applying to get a job – until getting it, and thus modestly contribute to this fantastic forum that helped me a lot in this thing, and I hope that some future sailors would benefit from my experience and described process, from application to employment.

I didn’t know about work on a ship almost anything, just caught an occasional story of someone from my town who had been working on some kind of cruise ships out there.
I never thought that I could get a job on a giant floating hotel, for me it seemed like a mission impossible.
I didn’t know anything about it, the agencies, companies, positions … it was an absolute mystery to me. Until last summer.

I’m 26 years old and it is time that something gives. Employment, concrete, stable, is nowhere in sight. I’ve been working odd jobs, just to survive.
In late July last year, I sat home behind computer and it crossed my mind to explore the internet for jobs abroad.

During exhausting research on the internet it just occurred to me to type “work on a cruise ship.” The first thing that Google produced was the site of Safe Cruise Agency in Belgrade.
Reviewing the site and Google-ing on, I came to this forum, and I was momentarily “hooked” and kept reading it after that moment for days and nights.

Reading the forum more and more, I found out more about the job on a ship and firmly resolved to do something concrete, in order to get a job and just do it.
I researched a variety of positions, dwelling on what I could and couldn’t do, and finally decided to go for the restaurant, position Buffet Steward.

Once in August I set out to assemble my CV. For days I dragged on, I hated to sit at home and type that in the middle of beautiful August.
I finished my CV, got two recommendations and one day decided to simply apply somewhere and see what happens.

I opted for a Safe Cruise agency, Belgrade because I was closer to my town than other cities and I read a lot of positive reviews about them on forum.
One Thursday in early September I sent my CV once, in the afternoon. After a minute or two my mobile ringed. It was a lady from the SC agency, ie their secretary Maja.
A verification of my English and what I wrote in my CV followed. An interview has been scheduled on Monday in the premises of the agency. I was very happy, finally, my first step toward getting a job has been completed.
